SWIMMING & DIVING

This week the women’s swim team moved up into the 16th spot from 21.  Details and an explanation of how individual scores are compiled to translate into team scores can be found at:

 http://buzztap.com/link.jspid=17739350&cid=304&source=feed&utm_medium=twitter&utm_source=twitterfeed.

Last week’s win over BIG EAST rival Notre Dame was fueled by their strength in the distance freestyle events.  Coach Arthur Albiero reported this as a great road win by a tough and intense team.

Last weekend they continued their success at the Purdue Invite where the women took 2nd place.  They next travel to Austin, TX for a November 29 to December 2 meet known as the USA Short Course Nationals.

VOLLEYBALL
NCAA TOURNAMENT MATCHES

The U of L VolleyCards are the 2012  Big East Conference and Tournament Champions.   Nothing is for yet for sure but we at Cardinal Couple are projecting that Louisville will be awarded the 1st and 2nd rounds of the NCAA tournament to go with the December 13 & 15 Semi-Final and Final NCAA Championship matches.  Great seats are still available at the ticket office for the final 4 rounds. Open dates at the YUM! Center are November 29 and 30th which would lead us to believe that opening NCAA championship rounds could be scheduled for those dates.  We will know no later than this Sunday, the 25th, where there will be a live ESPNU broadcast of the tournament selection.  We would assume that tickets will be available next Monday the 26th.   Check Cardinal Couple or the ticket office for updates.

FINAL REGULAR SEASON MATCH

On Friday the 28-3 Volleycards will play the OVC Champion Belmont at Cardinal Arena.  As you know seating and standing room is limited so get your tickets early.  If you get shut out for a ticket, live video of the 5:00 pm match is reported to be available on Cards TV.

(EDITORS' NOTE: Sonja and I are BIG believers of the life-changing work done at the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. Thanks to the sponsorships of individuals, companies and corporations...no child at St. Jude is ever turned away because of a family's inability to pay. When St. Jude was founded in 1962, survival rates for children with catastrophic cancers and diseases was 20%. It's now 80%. St. Jude's motto is: Finding Cures. Saving Children. Two very important things....).

Who will speak for the innocent children who cannot speak for themselves? You can, with a donation or by coordinating a fund-raising event for St. Jude.

2013 BASKETBALL RECRUITS

The Cardnation Women’s basketball team is celebrating the notice by Teacup, NJ point guard Starr Breedlove of NJCAA champion Trinity Valley Community College of her intent to sign tomorrow to be a Louisville Cardinal as a part of the 2013 class.

Her school choice is very fitting and she won’t even need to change school clothing as her 2011-2012 college team is known as the Cardinals.  Starr attributed her decision in part to “the fan support during U of L’s season-opening wins over Texas A&M and Portland was a key factor in her decision”.  She is spending this year at home while conducting individual workouts so the play-making guard will have 3 years of eligibility remaining beginning next year.

Check back tomorrow in Jenny’s column for more Starr Breedlove details.   She joins high school senior forward Emmonnie Henderson and junior college guard Janelle Cannon.

BASKETBALL

AUSTIN PEAY GAME THIS THURSDAY AVAILABLE ON THE WEB

!!! With the wins against
Texas A & M and Portland,
the
AP Poll now ranks our Louisville Women as # 8.  !!!

If you can’t make the drive to Clarksville, TN for this Thursday’s basketball game against Austin Peay you can still watch the game as the OVC will be streaming the game at no charge.   “Andrew”...in response to my question to the help page of the OVC site has indicated that once you open a free account with the OVC site that you can watch this game for no charge.  A more direct method may be available but until someone sends in the information this is what I have for now.

First you must open a free account with the OVC site by going to the OVC digital network at   http://www.ovcdigitalnetwork.com/showcase/#back
This site has an area on the top right which allows you to click “connect your accounts”.
It will connect you to a sign in or register page.     Register for your free account.
Then go back to  http://www.ovcdigitalnetwork.com/showcase/#back and scroll for the UL game.
Hopefully this works and we can watch the game streamed for free.
The game starts at 7:00 p.m.C.S.T., which is 8:00 here in the 'Ville.

(EDITOR NOTE...I tried it last night and had no trouble signing up for it. Watched the second half of the WBB game between Murray St. and Indiana. That annoying seven second delay between picture and sound is present, but the screen picture clarity
is great. WE'll give it a try again Thursday...and try to listen to Matt Andrews' call
on the radio at the same time. No one calls 'em like Matty...)
