-LADY CARDS RETURN TO THE KFC YUM! CENTER
With 6 Big East teams currently ranked in the top 20 Louisville (13-3) (2-1) cannot afford to let any non-ranked opponent escape with a win. 7 PM Wednesday finds the University of Louisville at home against one of those non-ranked opponents, the University of South Florida Bulls who are (9-7) and (1-1). Last Saturday they were defeated at home by 16th ranked Georgetown 66-56 but earlier squeaked by Big East conference foe, Cincinnati 58-55. Both teams are definitely in need not only for a win but for a resurrection of earlier hopes and goals for their Big East results. Let's hope that the return to a home environment, with their 6 game home winning streak, will be an emotional boost that our team needs so make your plans now for Wednesday at the YUM!

Although the Cardinal women have been outscoring their opponents 74-59, with the loss of Mo's 13 point a game aveage everyone will need to step up to the plate and contribute a little extra while definite attention will need to be paid to 5'7" senior guard Jasmine Wynne who is contributing an average of 15.9 points per game (double figures for a 12th straight game) and 5'7" Junior guard Kaneisha Saunders who averages 12.1 points. A relative unknown who may require continuous awareness, particularly behind the 3 point line, is Inga Orekhoba, a 6'2" Sevastapol Ukraine native who averaged 19.2 points a game playing at the GUARD position on her Junior college team. The transfer student immediately contributed 18 points ( all from behind the 3 point line) in her only Division 1 game which was played Saturday against Georgetown. If this pattern remains I would expect the Bulls 65.6 points a game average to increase.
Their remaining height comes from 6'4" junior center Caitlin Rowe. South Florida's guard heavy line up and Caitlin's low 5 rebound per game average contributed to Georgetown's 32-16 scoring dominance in the paint. Hopefully we can mimic Georgetown's 50-37 rebounding dominance of South Florida as normally are only slightly out rebounded by their opponents.
Again this game is an opportunity for the Louisville fans to create an unfamiliar atmosphere for incoming visitors as South Florida's home and away average attendance is < 700 per game. If Louisville fans come through like we have come to expect, crowd noise and support could not only provide difficulties for the Bulls but emotional energy for the Cardinals. On Wednesday the women will not have be competing with the Louisville men on TV or the KY men playing at Freedom Hall so there are no excuses for Louisville women's basketball fans to come to the game and do your part to support the team.
