Lady Cards not only WBB travelling...Atlanta puts one together...

.
MONDAY @ C.C.

-Other WBB teams travelling this August

-Atlanta ends home stand with a win.

-Mail call

The Lady Cards are in Winfree, B.C. Canada this early Monday morning, spending a few days in the resort town before three exhibition game to end the week. Here's a look at several other DI women's basketball teams taking advantage of summer travel:

Geno begins the post-Maya Moore era.
Connecticut is headed to Italy on August 16th., to play four games in a ten day stretch. The Big East school returns to the homeland of Geno Auriemma and will face the Dutch and Nigerian National teams during the trip. Plans to visit Greece were scrapped due to the nation's current economic crises.

Iowa has a 13 day trip that will take them to the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria and France. They'll play three exhibitions while there.

Mississippi is currently in Canada and is playing in three exhibitions while up north, They defeated University of Fraser Valley, a team on the Lady Cards Canada schedule by 16 points on Friday.

Texas is making a sweep of Austria, Slovakia and the Czech Republic currently and gets four games in ten days. They play Hredre Kralov Monday.

Toledo is visiting Israel and will play twice while there. The Toledo ABC affiliate sent a reporter to cover the trip...(are ya listening WHAS?)

Sancho Lyttle back in the
starting lineup for Atlanta.
The Atlanta Dream ended their current home stand with a 17 point win over the Seattle Storm on Sunday. Looks like the Storm are really missing All-Star center Lauren Jackson. The Dream finally have a healthy Sancho Lyttle back at the forward spot, but guard Armintine Price was carried off the court yesterday with an ankle injury. Coupled with Shalee Lehning's ACL injury, it leaves the Dream with just Lindsey Harding, Coco Miller, Izzy Castro-Marquez and Angel at the guard slots. Angel did her part yesterday with 17 points to lead all scorers. With the 70-53 win, Atlanta improves to 9-11 and heads out on the road for the next four.

Getting Lyttle back and healthy can only help the beleaguered Dream the rest of the way. The strong front line of her, Erika deSouza and Angel at the wing dominated opponents down the stretch last year when the Dream made their run to the WNBA Championship Series.

Thanks for all the e-mails while we were on break. Here's a couple that we wanted to share with you:

Dawn (Cincinnati, OH) writes:

Hey CARDINAL COUPLE!
Planking on the court?
Whatever happened to Cincinnati high school guard Deseree Byrd. I heard she had surgery on a hip but haven't heard anything since?

Thanks for writing, Dawn. We don't know. If any of our readers have an update on Dez, we'd like to know how she is. She was an integral part of the Lady Cards march to the Final Four a couple of years ago.

Betty (Louisville, KY) via e-mail:

Can you tell me if Louisville has any interest in Christian Academy player China Dow?

Dow is a part of the strong 2013 Class of recruits in Kentucky. She's a strong guard that takes it to the hoop with authority. As of now, she's uncommitted and doesn't have any schools on the visit list. Given UofL's depth at guards over the next several years...we're guessing that the Lady Cards may not be a part of her picture...but you never really know. (We love the name!)
